Many Northeast Ohio development projects won millions in historic tax credits from the Ohio Department of Development.CLEVELAND, Ohio — The revitalization of a historic theatre and the conversion of a long abandoned high school into apartments are among several Northeast Ohio projects that won Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits worth millions of dollars on Thursday.
West 25th’s historic Rauch & Lang Carriage Company Building, which is less than a mile from the West Side Market, received a $5 million tax credits. The over 150-year-old former automobile and industrial truck factory will see a new life as a mixed-use space. The renovations will create 92 apartments along with retail, restaurant, assembly, office and parking space all of which is set to cost $63 million.
Cleveland’s Avenue Building in the city’s Midtown District received $1.1 million in tax credits toward rehabilitation to once again become the headquarters for the Centers for Families and Children. The center will include housing administrative offices, a wellness center and educational facilities.
