The Bearkats hit the football uprights on their fourth attempt, setting up White to take the lead. She buried her shot and The Woodlands goalkeeper Patty Staton got her gloves on the final Klein attempt as the Highlanders rushed to that end to celebrate.White, who assisted on a goal in regulation, missed most of the season after suffering a foot injury that required surgery in December. She returned late in district play.“It was a super special moment,” White said.
It was an exhausting game, but White had the legs to race down the field to lift up goalkeeper Staton after her big save.The Woodlands has won 14 straight games and are unbeaten in 18 dating back to a Jan. 13 tournament loss to Hebron. The Woodlands responded one minute into the second overtime as a free kick from a far right angle by Kauppinen moved its way through the box and into the net.
