The United States Women’s National Team’s embarrassing World Cup run has come to an end, and it couldn’t be a more appropriate sendoff for the retiring Megan Rapinoe.
The USWNT went down in the Round of 16 to Sweden in penalty kicks, completing the worst World Cup run in team history. It also marks the end of Rapinoe’s international career, a team “legend” who does not rank in the top ten of games played and ranks tenth in goals scored in team history.The United States will not become the first team in #FIFAWWC history to three-peat after being eliminated by Sweden in a penalty shootout.
