And they’re … not good
Photo: Gotham/GC Images Kylie Jenner announced Kylie Swim in mid-August, and despite the fact that the line went on sale at the end of summer, the one-pieces sold out immediately and still remain out of stock. But this week, as buyers received their swimsuits in the mail, backlash grew online.
Some customers were not happy about the quality of the suits. A number of review videos posted under the #kylieswim hashtag on TikTok showed the sheer nature of the fabric. One video suggested wearing nipple covers under the suit, and others revealed how the logo on the inside was visible through the piece. One person showed the seams coming apart, and a Tiktoker commented, “It looks like Stormi sewed this together.
Videos also talked about the skimpy design, pointing out that it’s not accessible to many bodies, despite being marketed for all sizes. But the response wasn’t entirely negative: There are also positive TikTok reviews. One video praised the ombré “Cut It Out” swimsuit for the fit being small and large-boob approved, she also said the cut is “hot-girl approved.”
This isn’t the first time Kylie has received backlash from a business launch. In 2019, Kylie Skin’s walnut face scrub included walnut-shell powder, a controversial ingredient which some believe strips the skin’s barrier. The product remains on her site.
