Stop Award offers $5 million in rescue grants to Chicago public schoolchildren
No child deserves to have their educational opportunities denied.
More than 340,000 Chicago Public School students have been forced to stay home by self-interests who dominate the Chicago Public School system. The failure of Chicago’s leadership to open school even after receiving more than $1.5 billion from the federal government in the past year to ensure they are always open safely to students is outrageous and unacceptable.and are ready to help more children get educated.
The STOP Award RESCUE Grant Fund is accepting applications for emergency funding from qualified educators, education providers and parent organizations who can take in studentsimmediately. Tell us who you are, how you will do it, and what it costs to create seats for kids. And while you’re at it, write to your lawmakers and tell them that you won’t tolerate failure any longer.
Applications for emergency grants under the STOP Award Rescue Fund will be accepted through January 14th.

UN: Some Ethiopian aid will stop without cash, fuel and foodThe United Nations warned Thursday that some U.N. agencies and aid groups will be forced to halt operations in Ethiopia’s embattled Tigray region if humanitarian supplies, fuel and cash are not delivered very soon. U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said no trucks with food and other aid have been able to enter Tigray since Dec. 15 and the humanitarian situation “continues to deteriorate.” The U.N. needs about 100 truck-loads to enter Tigray every day to meet the needs of at least 5.2 million of the 6 million people in Tigray, but Dujarric said that since July 12 only 1,338 trucks have entered the region, which is less than 12% of the number needed.
