BYU head coach Kalani Sitake announced another season-ending injury at safety

On Monday, BYU head coach Kalani Sitake announced that safety Tanner Wall suffered a season-ending injury."Tanner Wall is out for the year as well," Sitake said."When we evaluated, he had surgery, and we're pretty safe to say that he'll be out for the year. That's unfortunate because he started playing really great football. For now, that's the season-ending ones.

No position group on BYU's roster has suffered more injuries than the safeties this year. BYU lost star safety Micah Harper to a season-ending injury during Fall camp. His backup, Talan Alfrey, was injured during Fall camp and has not played this season. Alfrey is expected back on the field at some point this month.

Safety Crew Wakley suffered an injury on the first play of the game against Arkansas that sidelined him a couple weeks. Wakley was back in the lineup for BYU at TCU, but he suffered an injury against TCU. Including the injuries to Wakley, five BYU safeties have missed multiple games due to injury. With all the injuries at safety, Tanner Wall emerged as the starter at free safety. Wall played well, especially in BYU's win against Cincinnati. Wall finished the season with 22 total tackles. His presence will be missed during the last six games of the season.
