Startup EV automaker Polestar has enjoyed a lot of sales growth this year, already nearly matching last year's production in just the first six months of 2022, with only one car currently on sale. That's set to change early next year when the
—the brand's first SUV model—goes on sale. Now we have range and price estimates for a better idea of what to expect. Can Polestar go up against Porsche with an all-new, all-electric lineup?, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath announced the Polestar 3 will be priced between €75,000 euros and €110,000 in Europe. Thanks to the current euro to dollar exchange rate parity at the moment, that starting price is almost exactly $75,000 in U.S. dollars, as well.
The executive added that the 3 is"not a car to drive to the kindergarten," and will be"very aerodynamic and very engaging to drive." Polestar has pitched the 3 SUV as a rival to the Porsche Cayenne, and the upcoming Polestar 4 will rival the Porsche Macan.
The Polestar 3 is scheduled for its full reveal this October, which is when order books will open as well. Deliveries aren't expected until at least the first quarter of 2023. The company expects to sell up to 24,000 units of its first SUV next year, scaling up to 77,000 units annually by 2025.
