Archive images offer a fascinating window into everyday life for many Greater Manchester families
As large areas were redeveloped in the '60s and '70s, communities were pulled apart as the long streets of Victorian terraced housing estates were replaced by concrete tower blocks and overspill estates.
The newly discovered images depict Salford families during these decades, existing in the limbo of waiting to be rehoused while still crammed in the squalor of their soon-to-be demolished homes. While many of the photos below depict the terrible living conditions, a strong sense of community shines through.
