The internet's frat house: meet VSBRO, an app for bros that’s gone viral by abebrown716
In total, it’s been all of three days since VSBRO launched, quickly amassing 60,000 users, a benchmark that more typically takes weeks or months at minimum. It has reached the Top 25 of Apple’s download charts and ranked as high as the third most-popular social media app behind only Facebook and Facebook’s Messenger app. “It's easy to get really caught up in it,” Burns says. “We have no idea what we're doing. We have no idea what it is gonna be.
VSBRO resembles a Twitter feed, one endless stream of users’ photos with short captions that others can like by clicking a fist-bump-shaped button similar to Facebook’s thumb’s up icon. Importantly, VSBRO’s popularity has been boosted by TikTok, where VSBRO users have gone to share screenshots and encourage people to download the app. TikToks with #vsbro have accumulated 162,100 views so far.
“Everyone is reposting the pictures that I posted on there, [writing captions] like, ‘Get her off this app,’” says Maddie Stachowicz, 15. She downloaded and joined VSBRO but has quickly retreated to the sidelines. “I was just curious,” she says. “I thought it would be a lot nicer.”
