For years, we knew a Fede Álvarez-helmed Alien movie was coming, but had no idea what it would look like or be about. That changes right now. Disney, yes Disney, just dropped the first trailer for Alien: Romulus, which hits theaters August 16. Directed by Álvarez , the film stars Cailee Spaeny and Isabela Merced as the latest badass ladies to fight the acid-blooded xenomorphs, joining the ranks of Sigourney Weaver and Noomi Rapace.
Is the film, as Spaeny said, really set between Alien and Aliens? How did the xenomorph get on this ship? There are lots of questions in terms of specifics. However, in terms of plain old normal people on a spaceship fighting a killer alien species? This trailer delivers. We love the long camera moves, flying face-huggers, even the weaponry feels very Alien.
