The fight to save a little 1912 schoolhouse
It is slated to be torn down April 1.
“They said, ‘Yes, we’re interested in that,’ so we went down there with a moving company, Nickel Bros., and it turned out it’s a perfect candidate for relocation and repurposing.” “My hope is that we can move it to a First Nation community that would repurpose the building,” he said. The catch is that Lewis will have to work through the Vancouver park board bureaucracy as well as the school board, because the building would be driven to the barge through Kitsilano or Vanier Park.
