My name is Maya Richard-Craven, and I am a Black and neurodivergent journalist from Los Angeles. As someone with an intersectional identity, I feel qualified to discuss neurodivergence, ableism, race, and gender in the workplace. I am no stranger to freelancing.

Prior to founding The Female Quotient, she started Online Testing Exchange . As the CEO of OTX, she led global innovation in over eighty countries then sold OTX to Ipsos in 2010. Zalis is a speaker and moderator who has interviewed high level CEOs, prominent entertainers, and influential female figures. She even writes for, a movement led by the Association of National Advertisers to increase authentic portrayals of women and girls in advertising and media.
“Women are in the workplace. Why should they not have equal opportunity? We need to make the invisible visible and rewrite those rules. That’s why we have to prioritize writing the rules so that everyone can thrive in the workplace today,” she said. And she’s right.have been belittled, oppressed, and overlooked in the business world. It’s time for women to get the recognition we deserve for our accomplishments and contributions in the workplace.Zalis advocates for equal pay in the workplace.
“According to the World Economic Forum, it'll take one hundred thirty one years to close the gender gap. The gender gap is a mindset gap. It is not that complicated to close. When you think about gender and the gender gap, there's different parts of the gender gap in the workplace.” She stressed the importance of recognizing the various aspects of the gender gap.
“There's the pay gap. There's the care gap. There's the AI bias gap. There's the procurement gap. There’s the workforce gap. There's the leadership gap,” Zalis said.. Zalis founded The Female Quotient to encourage women and allies to make an impact together. “The Female Quotient is all about the power of collaboration where one plus one is eleven. I bring everybody under one roof so that we all work together to make a difference.
