Curlers and fans mingled together during a loud festival of the game at the world men\u0027s curling championship in Ottawa.

Ultimately, though, she says the spirit of the city came shining through. The bonus is that the Canadians survived some shaky play early to make it all the way to the final, an ideal finish in a home-country setting. “You know what I say to all those people who say Ottawa is a sleepy town, the town that fun forgot?” said Brimicombe. “Well, I say they should have been here for the last few days because the fans have really rocked this place. They are just outstanding. The support they have shown for all the teams is amazing. They gave a standing ovation to a couple of teams that have probably only played in a front of a hundred people before. Now they’re playing in front of thousands.
The World Curling Federation, which oversees the championship, always relishes the big-time events that are played in Canada.
