Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A thrilling new Star Wars theory reveals The Acolyte's title is a lie - concealing an even more exciting storyline. Excitement is building for The Acolyte, Lucasfilm's next Star Wars TV show - one that serves as a prequel to the prequels themselves. Set a century before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, this will apparently tell the story of how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi and the Republic.
The Acolyte Features More Than Just Jedi & Sith This is introducing new Force lore Close The Acolyte is set at the tail end of the High Republic Era. Running from roughly 500 to 100 years before the main Skywalker saga, this was an age when the light of the Jedi and the Republic shone brightly across the galaxy. It was not an age of peace, though; all too often, exploration meant the Jedi came face-to-face with terrifying new threats and Force cults.
Mother Aniseya Mother Aniseya is the leader of a coven of Witches who value their independence and the preservation of their beliefs and powers. Mae's assassin garb shares many similarities with the robes of Mother Aniseya, and other shots have shown the Jedi in conflict with the entire coven. It's possible that Mae is the titular acolyte, but not of the Sith; rather, she could be Mother Aniseya's acolyte, training in a Force cult never before seen in Star Wars live-action. If this theory is correct, then there's a subtle sense in which the show's title is a lie.
