'I had so many DMs about that red lip' - Letitia Sophia, the make-up artist behind the look
The Cult Classic Make-Up Buys Behind Maya Jama's‘I used the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Liner in Hollywood Honey first,' Letitia tells Grazia, 'I always like to line a red lip with a darker shade. Next I went over it with MAC’s Ruby Woo Lipstick.’
Maya's debut look set Twitter threads alight and Letitia's Instagram inbox went into overdrive too - ‘I had so many DMs about that red lip,' she says, 'it’s crazy that so many people are into it.’ How did Letitia come up with the colour combo? Well it was all about the outfit, of course. ‘Maya tried on outfits for the opening scene the day before filming and when she put that two-piece on we were all like, wow,' Letitia says, wide-eyed, 'I knew we’d be doing a red lip to match. It was a no brainer - we saw that outfit and collectively decided that a red lip was happening.’
Letitia and Maya are close friends. ‘I’ve been working with Maya on and off for around seven years,' says Letitia fondly, 'I messaged her on Snapchat to say if she ever needed a make-up artist, this is my Instagram and she followed me straight away and messaged me. The next time she had an event I headed to the radio station she was working at at the time and did her glam and that was it. We’re very close friends now, which makes work a lot of fun.
