Texas players celebrates their win over San Diego in four sets in the semifinals of the NCAA women's volleyball tournament, Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, in Omaha, Neb. The match-winning point belonged, of course, to Texas outside hitter Logan Eggleston.
“They're super tight and they believe in each other and they can look each other in the eye and make sure they know that they can do it,” Texas coach Jerritt Elliott told ESPN after advancing to the national title game for the sixth time since taking over the program in 2001. “They could have folded after Game 1 and they stuck together.”
Eggleston struggled with attack errors and service aces in the opening set, often putting too much juice on her swings and sending them long. But Kentucky transfer Madi Skinner helped settle everyone down - it helped that the third-year sophomore had thrived on this stage before, recording 19 kills to lead Kentucky over Texas in the 2020 national championship game.
