State Senator Roland Gutierrez, who represents Uvalde, said three of his Republican colleagues support raise the age to buy an assault-style rifle in Texas but won’t go public.

FOX 4’s Steven Dial sat down with State Senator Roland Gutierrez , who represents Uvalde. Gutierrez said three of his Republican colleagues support it but won’t go public. "Sadly and unfortunately, what happened in Uvalde, unfortunately will happen again in our state," Gutierrez said. "We have to do things to fix this problem, so at least we make it somewhat harder, so at least we make it somewhat avoidable. Because if we do nothing, shame on us.

They are not asking for the moon and the stars here; they are not asking for an assault weapons ban. They are asking for one small, nominal thing. They sat in front of the governor’s mansion and asked for an age limit increase on assault military-style weapons.
