Texas hit rock bottom last season when it lost to Kansas in overtime in Austin.

AUSTIN, TEXAS - NOVEMBER 13: The Kansas Jayhawks celebrate in the end zone after a reception for a two point conversion in overtime by Jared Casey #47 of the Kansas Jayhawks to defeat the Texas Longhorns at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on November 13, 2021 in Austin, Texas. AUSTIN — For first-year coach Steve Sarkisian and Texas, the rock-bottom moment arrived Nov. 13, 2021.

“I think Lance has done a great job,” Sarkisian said Monday. “They came out early in the year and really jumped on people. Very unique style of offense, a lot of triple-option components to what they do. They force you to play disciplined football. And the defensively, they’re very active upfront. They create sacks and turnovers. Great challenge for us.”

“Human nature tells you yeah, right, we need to avenge what happened a year ago,” Sarkisian said Monday. “The reality is, we’re a different team. They’re a different team. A little bit more at stake in this scenario of what we need to do.”
