With Texas QB Hudson Card still limited, starter Quinn Ewers expected to miss at least a couple weeks, per multiple sources and reports, redshirt freshman third-stringer Charles Wright has been preparing to start Saturday vs. UTSA.AUSTIN — Texas coach Steve Sarkisian remains committed to keeping the team’s current quarterback situation as mysterious as possible.
Earlier this week, Sarkisian reported that redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers and redshirt sophomore backup Hudson Card were “day-to-day” after suffering injures in last week’s one-point loss to No. 1 Alabama. “They all progressed this week in my opinion,” Sarkisian said. “Quinn and Hudson got healthier and healthier as the week went on. I thought Charles did a good job with managing the more reps he got. I feel like his comfort level, his confidence was as good as I’ve ever seen it or better. So that’s a real positive for us, that all three of those guys in my opinion got better as the week went on.
“What I can clarify is all three of the guys got better this week,” Sarkisian said. “I don't think it's my job to get on here and tell you guys what our game plan is going to be.”
