His trial in the Texas Senate could result in him being the first statewide official removed from office in more than a century.
Eleven served in the chamber with Paxton when he was a senator representing Collin and Dallas counties from 2013 to 2015. Twelve others served with him in the House, where Paxton was first elected to office in 2002. Angela Paxton never publicly challenged the rules. All senators are under a gag order prohibiting them from speaking on the merits of the case against the attorney general.
