Texas A&M running back Devon Achane has always been known for top-flight speed, but the junior is adding blocking and receiving to his repertoire.COLLEGE STATION — Solid blocking doesn’t always include flawless form or persistently pancaking defensive linemen, Texas A&M offensive lineman Layden Robinson said. Sometimes the swift guy behind the line mercifully smooths out the mishaps.
“If you look at his production , the guy averaged 7 yards per carry and had and can catch the ball,” Fisher said. “There’s nothing he can’t do.” Last year, he especially stamped his name in Aggies lore, however, with a 96-yard kick return for a touchdown against Alabama midway through the third quarter at Kyle Field, what proved to be the difference in A&M’s 41-38 toppling of the top-ranked Crimson Tide.
Achane’s 24 catches last season ranked fourth on the team, and his 10.9 yards per catch placed him second among the receivers with at least 20 receptions.
