Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed a working prototype of humanoid robot at Tesla AI day 2022

According to Musk, it can do more than what has been shown, but “the first time it walked without a tether was tonight on stage.” Musk said they’re targeting a price of “probably less than $20,000.”The back doors of the stage opened to reveal a deconstructed Optimus that walked forward and did a “raise the roof” dance move. Musk would admit after the motion that they wanted to keep it safe and not make too many moves on stage and have it “fall flat on its face.
It contains a 2.3kWh battery pack, runs on a Tesla SoC, and has Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity. A demonstration showed how the knee of the robot was inspired by an actual human knee, built with multiple mechanical actuators with optimized joints. The hands are also human-inspired, and is designed to pick up various shaped and sized objects — and can carry a 20-pound bag in one hand.
