Johnny Edwards, 19, surrendered to deputies on Saturday after fatally shooting someone involved in a separate dispute at a truck stop in Tonopah.
A teenager surrendered to deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office on Saturday a few days after fatally shooting someone involved in a dispute at a truck stop in Tonopah.
Edwards raced back to the passenger side of a black SUV which fled the area before law enforcement arrived, documents say. The man, who remains unidentified, was declared dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. The parents of a 17-year-old boy eventually contacted deputies and allowed authorities to interview their son, who was the driver of the black SUV — a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The boy fled back to the Tahoe along with Edwards and drove eastbound on 339th Avenue. The boy told police that Edwards had the handgun resting on his lap and threatened to kill him if he told anyone about what happened.
