Belleville taxpayers could be facing at least a seven per cent increase in taxes this year.
Council will discuss the Operating Budget, the City’s plan for the day-to-day costs required to deliver all city services to residents, on April 5 and 6.Belleville Urban +7.02%Mayor Neil Ellis says inflation and other factors are making it a tough budget year for the city,“Municipalities across the board have been facing ever-increasing costs to provide services for residents and Belleville is no exception.
He adds that he understands there will be concerns with the proposed increase and assures residents they are doing everything they can to bring these numbers down while maintaining the best level of service.The entire Proposed Operating Budget will be presented to council at the Operating Budget Meeting on April 5-6 starting at 9 a.m.
