We chat with Tetris star TaronEgerton about stepping into Henk Rogers' shoes and continuing to collaborate with Kingsman's Matthew Vaughn:
Apple TV's Tetris is poised to unveil the true story behind the addictive game, and it's not an easy one to believe. Arriving through the streaming platform on March 31, the film is more of a madcap adventure than a straightforward biopic, and it's as much a captivating journey through the political maze of the '80 as it is a celebration of the beloved block game. Taron Egerton stars as Henk Rogers, who first came across the game of Tetris entirely by accident in Las Vegas.
Taron Egerton: The kids I was working with in those scenes speak perfect English, but they do also speak Japanese. The same is true of Ayane [Nagabuchi], who played my wife, so I was the one who didn't really have a clue what was going on. But that's appropriate for the scene, because Henk is depicted as being a little behind the curve when it comes to his family.
Taron Egerton: Yeah, it's a charming relationship. And that is the sort of center. As much as Henk’s relationship with his family is important, it really is the relationship with Nikita that's at the heart of the movie. Nikita is a great actor, and he's somebody that I really admire and really enjoyed working with.
