The Issue: Target’s announcement that it’s closing nine stores, including one in Harlem, due to shoplifting.
I find it insane that retail establishments, such as Target, are closing solely because looting and shoplifting are permitted with complete impunity — and I’m sure a multitude of other New Yorkers agree .
The loss of retail establishments, big and small, due to crime is another example of how officials have low expectations for their constituents.Fresh Meadows The enforcement of the law is a service purportedly provided by the cities. But enter “progressive” district attorneys, who don’t like the demographic composition of those breaking the law and — voila! — we get lousy, ineffective service.
The left-wing liberals will try and spin this into a racial issue, saying Target is leaving neighborhoods of color. Enough with the excuses and lies. These individuals aren’t shoplifting to feed their families. They’re stealing to line their pockets with cash. As always, honest, hardworking Americans end up paying for it with higher prices.Massapequa
