Shipt, the Target-owned delivery service, expects to add about 130,000 shoppers by the end of April. These workers would be in addition to the 70,000 it brought on during the coronavirus pandemic.
Shipt shoppers earned a 30% increase in average pay per order since early March, according to Shipt CEO Kelly Caruso. "Shopping has become more difficult in recent weeks. We've seen an increase in demand, and we want to ensure that our shoppers feel appreciated," Caruso says.Target will provide face masks and gloves to Shipt shoppers as they enter its stores to pick items for same-day deliveries amid the high demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company says it will expedite individual safety kits for its most active shoppers and those in high-risk areas.
