TheWalkingDead spinoff TalesOfTheWalkingDead's cast continues to grow as Cowboy Bebop star Daniella Pineda joins the show.
Cowboy Bebop's Daniella Pineda is the most recent addition to the Tales of the Walking Dead cast. This series is the newest spinoff to be added to the Walking Dead Franchise. The Walking Dead is a post-apocalyptic series following a group of survivors led by Rick Grimes after he awakens from a coma a month after the world is overrun by walkers . It is based on a comic series of the same name that ended in 2019.
Tales of the Walking Dead was announced back in 2020, with slow development since then. It's set to be an anthology series, exploring new and old characters, telling as of yet untold stories from across the entire Walking Dead TV franchise. It is even suggested that some episodes may revolve around previously deceased characters. Executive producer of The Walking Dead, Scott M. Gimple, has been very open when discussing the series' future, teasing animated and musical episodes.
Gimple suggested that the genre would change depending on the episode, ranging from straight horror to black comedy, and this cast seems to reflect that. The current cast list has racked up several comedic actors including Brooklyn 99's Terry Crews, 22 Jump Street's Jillian Bell, and the iCarly reboot's Poppy Liu. In contrast, Parker Posey and Anthony Edwards have both appeared in much more intense dramas.
The creators of Tales of the Walking Dead have collected an obscure list of actors and themes to explore as their summer 2022 release date approaches. This highlights their new take on this usually gritty genre seen across the franchise. With so many different adaptations following a very similar dramatic genre and structure, it will be interesting to see how the Tales of the Walking Dead writers go about breaking this mold. .
