Sydney moved to Los Angeles from her hometown of Spokane, Washington, when she was 14 years old, and remembers experiencing L.A. culture shock while simultaneously trying to break through as a young actor. “And at that time, I wasn’t the most confident person,” said Sydney. “I knew I was a good actor, but no one believed in me. I was told to lose weight or that my hair was the wrong color. Random things that make you start to question,Today, Sydney Sweeney is not only a lauded actor but also the founder of Fifty-Fifty Films, her own production company.
As a producer, Sydney says the fight to make young female voices heard is tough, even amongst older women. “I was told that I couldn’t get a credit I believed I deserved, and I couldn’t get my company’s name on a project I was developing,” said Sydney. “I have my theories why. Maybe they feel like we’re getting it too easy. I was told I have to do multiple things before I can get a credit like that, as if I didn’t deserve it.
As an actor, Sydney has also noticed stark differences in the roles she's gotten critical praise for and the roles she hasn't. “has been a completely different kind of turning point,” Sydney said about her role as Olivia in the satirical HBO drama.
