An SUV smashed into South Loop shoe store Thursday morning in the latest smash-and-grab burglary in the city, Chicago police said.
A group of suspects drive drove an SUV into the security gate outside a shoe store in the 1800-block of South State Street at about 4:30 a.m., police said.
The suspects then entered the store and stole merchandise before fleeing in several waiting vehicles, leaving the crashed SUV in the store.The incident is one of several smash-and grab burglaries across the city in recent days. On Wednesday, and burglars targeted a shoe store on Taylor Street, driving an SUV into the Flee Club and on Tuesday, a store in River North was hit.an SUV crashed into a shoe store on the 1100-block of North Ashland Avenue."Basically, this happens every year around this time," owner Jacob said. "They hit stores like ours, resale stores that carry mid to high-end merchandise. They do it the same way, They are running a car into the front of the building.
