"It felt like 10 minutes ago, the world fell in love with Susan Boyle and hated my guts," Cowell said before Boyle sang. Backed by a spinning spotlight, Boyle opened the soaring ballad standing alone center stage in a long, glittery dress amid a field of electrified lights that swirled around her as the song rose to a crescendo.
