The Supreme Court says a Manhattan district attorney has a right to President Trump’s taxes and financial records.

. The ruling in the congressional case sends the separation of powers dispute back to lower courts for further determination.

Kavanaugh wrote separately for himself and Gorsuch and stressed that Trump's lawyers still can raise new arguments at the district court level. Associate Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented from the ruling, as well as the one applying to Congress. Thomas said the New York case should be returned to lower courts to determine if Trump's duties as president should preclude the subpoena. Alito was more adamant.
