New financial disclosures and a report from a liberal watchdog shed new light on the gifts received by Supreme Court Justices. from politically-active donors. Some of these gifts were not recorded in financial disclosures, which led to calls for Congress to draft a code of ethics for the Supreme Court. Whether Congress has the constitutional power to do this wasto “set out succinctly and gather in one place the ethics rules and principles that guide the conduct of the Members of the Court.
Other Supreme Court justices chronicled their gifts, travel and money earned from books and teaching. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson reported receiving four concert... Jackson valued the four tickets at $3,711.84, according to her annual disclosure form, which covered all of 2023. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has filed an amended financial disclosure that includes two trips he was gifted.
