The B.C. Provincial Rental Housing Corporation is seeking to convert the Fraser Inn and former Direct Art building to supportive housing.

The B.C. Provincial Rental Housing Corporation is seeking to convert a motel and former art store on Queensway to provide 30 units of supportive housing.

The provincial Crown corporation is seeking to rezone 1616 and 1650 Queensway, currently the Fraser Inn and former Direct Art building, “to facilitate 30 units of supportive housing within existing buildings on the subject properties,” according to a public notice published by the City of Prince George.The buildings are currently owned by BC numbered companies.

City council will be considering first and second reading of the proposed rezoning on Monday, during their regular city council meeting. Residents can provide written comment to city council by noon on Monday, by filing out an online comment form, emailing [email protected], faxing 250-561-0183 or delivering them to the city’s corporate officer at city hall.

BC Housing provides administration and property management for properties owned by Provincial Rental Housing Corporation. A spokesperson for BC Housing did not return the Citizen's request for comment as of 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
