Seva is the idea of selfless service for others and the community without a thought or consideration for personal gain.
Over my career, I have found that I am able to embrace seva through my work with my community of fellow citizens of Pennsylvania, a state I consider and call my home.
The House Bills 1024, 1025, 1026, and 1027 would expand protections for marginalized communities, increase training for law enforcement and education professionals, encourage the reporting of hate-based incidents in schools, and expand restorative justice opportunities for those convicted of hate crimes.
HB 779 would amend Pennsylvania’s Public School Code, requiring the Department of Education to develop a model curriculum for K-12 students on Asian-American and Pacific Islander history. SB84 would accommodate and welcome teachers of diverse backgrounds and beliefs by allowing them to wear religious attire consistent with their faith, including the Sikh turban.
