The Watford Sunday League WSFL55 is to pay tribute to our late Assistant Editor and Sports Editor

The Watford Observer’s former Assistant Editor and Sports Editor, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 81, will be best remembered for his coverage of Watford FC.

But he was also a strong supporter of local sport in the Watford area and an honorary member of the Sunday League. A statement from the league posted on social media read:"Many of you may have already heard of the sad passing of the former @Observer_Owl Journalist Oliver Phillips earlier this week . “Oli was a dedicated sportsperson , not only with the newspaper & Watford FC , but also with local football including this League for many years & was an Honorary League Member.

“As a mark of respect for his passing we would ask that one minutes silence is observed before all matches this coming Sunday, the 5th February .”
