CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A five-run second inning propelled the Summerside Chevys to an 8-2 win over the Stratford A’s in the opening game of the P.E.I.
The win gives the Chevys a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three semifinal series. Game 2 is scheduled for Lower McNeill Field in Stratford on Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. If necessary, the third and deciding game will be played at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Legends Field in Summerside on Sept. 1, also at 8 p.m.
With the Baseball Canada 16-under girls’ invitational national championship tournament winding up at Queen Elizabeth Park on Aug. 28, Game 1 was played at Memorial Field.
