Annual basketball tournament for Indigenous youth held at the lend of February sees Sudbury teams win two of three divisions
The basketball courts at Cambrian College, Lasalle Secondary and even the Sudbury Five’s court at Sudbury Arena were kept busty Feb. 24-26 for the Ontario Native Basketball Tournament.
The events drew 17 teams from across Ontario to Greater Sudbury: 10 U19 boys teams, five U19 girls teams and two U16 boys teams. “With a number of cultural and leadership activities offered throughout the entire tournament, ONBI builds confidence, creates friendships and strengthens communities, while creating opportunities for Indigenous youth to participate in competitive sport with their peers,” the tournament website About section states.
