James Ptacek of Strongsville , right, and John Reichel of Fort Myers, Fla., won gold medals in men’s doubles at the 2024 Minto US Open Pickleball Championships.STRONGSVILLE, Ohio -- In the midst of the record-breaking 2024 Minto US Open Pickleball Championships April 13-20 in Naples, Fla., James Ptacek of Strongsville stood out among the thousands of competitors.
The atmosphere at East Naples Community Park was electric, with 40,000 spectators adding to the excitement of the “Biggest Pickleball Party in the World™.” Liz Jones, Cheryl McConnell and Amy Davies are three of the talented 15-person cast of the play "Our Town," currently being presented by Strongsville Community Theatre.This three-act play was written by American playwright Thornton Wilder in 1938. Described by Edward Albee as “the greatest American play ever written”, it presents the fictional American town of Grover’s Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens.
“Tree City USA communities see the positive effects of an urban forest firsthand,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “They have taken full advantage of the opportunities available to them in our district and have become well-rounded, active learners along the way.”Class of 2024 National Merit Commended Students Matthew Jedacek, Parija Patel, Shaun Sekura and Mallory Vish.According to Osborne, these students have distinguished themselves with an average GPA of 4.38, taking an average of 9.5 AP courses, 10 Honors courses, 3.5 World Language courses and 2.5 College Credit Plus courses.
