Striking teachers to hit Nicola Sturgeon constituency in Glasgow with 'targeted' action
Scotland’s largest teaching union has announced it will take "targeted" strike action in the Glasgow constituency of Nicola Sturgeon in a row over pay.
The announcement is the latest escalation in the long-running dispute which threatens to rumble on into the exam period. The First Minister represents Glasgow Southside, while the Deputy First Minister is the MSP for Perthshire North and Ms Somerville the MSP for Dunfermline. Greer represents the West Scotland region at Holyrood, but it is understood East Dunbartonshire will bear the brunt of the EIS action.
"Instead, the Scottish Government and Cosla initially offered a pathetic two per cent pay settlement – at a time when inflation was nearly four times that amount. Since then, the Scottish Government and Cosla have dithered, delayed and dragged their feet while the cost of living has continued to soar.”
