Part of State Route 259 in Parma is now renamed after a fallen hero.
Jason Hasenauer, 21, of Hilton, was killed in Afghanistan in 2005 while serving in the U.S. Army. 'They fought for good reason': Gold Star parent reflects on U.S. legacy in Afghanistan
A member of the 82nd Airborne Division, Hasenauer was a Hilton High School graduate and a volunteer with the Hilton Fire Department before joining the Army. Route 259 between the Lake Ontario State Parkway and Dunbar Road is now known as the Specialist Jason Hasenauer Memorial Highway."To have a highway named after him, he'll always be remembered for what he did," said Jason's father, Dan Hasenauer. "Especially his family, they will always remember him."
