Gusts from Storm Otto have tipped over 80mph today in Scotland
Storm Otto has reached the UK and has been battering parts of Scotland this morning with high winds of up to over 80mph.
Weather maps from the Met Office show that the worst of the wind has likely passed, with gale speeds remaining at around 50-59mph in areas like Aberdeen and Lerwick. The highest wind gusts so far have reached 83mph in Inverbervie on the northeast coast. There's currently a warning in place that covers areas in Central Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Highlands, Orkney, Strathclyde and Southwest Scotland until 3pm today.
The spell of strong winds is likely to ease off as we get into the afternoon as they travel further west.
