Store clerk shot during armed robbery at Oceanside convenience store [Breaking]
A clerk at a convenience store in Oceanside suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot during an armed robbery early Sunday, police said.
At 4:25 a.m., officers were called to investigate a robbery at the AM PM store on Oceanside Boulevard, just east of Interstate 5, according to police spokesperson Jennifer Atenza. Two men had entered the store and demanded cash from the store clerk, Atenza said. One of the suspects pointed a black semi-automatic pistol at the clerk.The clerk complied and handed over a few hundred dollars, then he tried to chase the robbers out of the store using a stick, Atenza said. It was during that altercation that one of the men shot him in the torso, she said.Police say the suspects are Latino, between 20 and 25 years old and about 5 feet 10 inches with medium build.
