U.S. stocks fell at the opening bell Wednesday as investors grappled with the ominous economic signal from the yield curve's inversion. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.55% was down 0.3% to 2,858. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.54% shed 122 points, or 0.4%, to around 25,656. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.76% slipped 0.6% to 7,782.
