Stocks ended higher Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.89% and the S&P 500 SPX, +1.00% turning positive for October as investors largely cheered a round of third-quarter corporate earnings. The Dow rose around 238 points, or 0.9%, to end near 27,025, according to preliminary figures, while the S&P 500 gained around 30 points, or 1%, to finish near 2,996. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +1.24% closed at 8,149, a gain of around 100 points, or 1.2%.
