Recipients of a food and utility subsidy program in Chelsea, Massachusetts, will receive their final payment from the program in just 16 days.
These payments, ranging from $200 to $400 in value, go to 738 selected households on May 15. The funds, disbursed through the Chelsea Eats program, are meant to subsidize food and utility costs. A Chelsea city spokesperson told the Washington Examiner that the funds are loaded on recipients' debit cards, which were issued in early March.To be eligible, families had to have been residents of Chelsea with a household income of 30% less than the area median.
The amount issued to recipients depends on how many people are in their household. A household of one receives $200, a household of two receives $300, and a household of three or more receives $400, according to the program's website.This next payment will be the third and final payment of the program. The first payment was issued on March 15, and the second was issued on April 15.
The spokesperson told the Washington Examiner that the program will be discontinued after this next payment.
