After winning three NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls (1996-98), what is Steve Kerr's favorite story from playing with Michael Jordan?
Kerr learned that in various ways. Jordan infamously punched Kerr in the face during one practice, prompting Kerr to retaliate. Jordan also passed the ball to Kerr for a game-winning shot in the decisive Game 6 of the 1997 NBA Finals.
The documentary draws on varying interviews with Jordan’s teammates, including Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Kerr and others. But Kerr became the lone member of the Bulls on Monday's conference call that originally planned to include Pippen and Rodman. That left Kerr as the sole voice to answer questions about the 1997-98 team.
"I don’t think anything was really that surprising at that point," Kerr said."The beauty of Dennis joining the Bulls was we had a really mature team and there were a lot of veteran players on that team with an incredible coach who understood how to motivate teams and connect with individuals. Before the season even started, then-general manager Jerry Krause announced that Jackson would not return. Jackson expressed the same feelings. Jordan and Pippen indicated they had no desire to stay if Jackson left and shared their annoyance with Krause openly.
