Guardians new manager is young, talented and inexperienced like team itself.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Stephen Vogt is the new manager of the Cleveland Guardians and as manager he takes over for Terry Francona, one of the most beloved and successful managers in team history.
Vogt is 39-years-old and has never managed a team before at any level. He inherits a team that lost 86 games last season, finished third in the Central division and was one of Francona’s few teams that didn’t make the playoffs. Vogt, like Francona, was a catcher who was drafted by the Rays and played 10 years in the majors with the A’s, Arizona, Atlanta, the Brewers and the Giants.
Like the Guardians players, the new manager is young and talented although somewhat inexperienced. Hopefully they will help each other through the rough patches and back to the playoffs. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
