'STEM Zone Saturday' gives kids a taste of real-world science at University of Houston

“It’s one of the most rewarding activities I get to work in,” Urh said. “By doing it at UH we really hope to introduce to them to, ‘This what your future can be like.’” “Everything in the energy industry is affected by the energy transition,” said Alan Rossiter, executive director of external relations and educational program development at UH Energy. “We have a whole new generation of people who need to be coming into the field who can manage that change at every level of the organization.”The STEM Zone Saturdays target under-served communities, often through outreach to schools throughout Third Ward and Fifth Ward near UH, Rossiter said.
Many young people don’t often realize the myriad career possibilities that exist within the energy industry, noted Christina Philbrook, who works on pipeline integrity with Exxon Mobil.
