Stellantis' new EV platform aims for 700 km of range per charge — via drivingdotca ElectricVehicles
Using European test standards, Stellantis said the Medium platform will provide a range of more than 500 kilometres on a standard battery pack, and more than 700 kilometres on a performance-pack battery. It will provide up to 98 kWh of usable energy, and its 400-volt architecture will give it “best-in-class” energy efficiency and charging time, the company said.
The platform’s flexible design means vehicles can have a wheelbase between 2,700 and 2,900 mm ; an overall length of 4.3 to 4.9 metres ; ground clearance in excess of 220 mm to ensure off-road capability; and overall wheel-and-tire diameter of up to 750 mm .
The four platforms are intended to be “future-proof” with their flexible modular design, and can eventually be outfitted with other Stellantis components still in development, including cloud-integrated software, personalized vehicle services, and self-driving capability. In its EV Day 2021 presentation, Stellantis said it has set targets of 100-per-cent electric passenger car sales in Europe; and 50-per-cent electric passenger car and light-duty truck sales mix in the United States by 2030.
